Peace country athletes earn silver at Canada Summer Games

A handful of peace country athletes were busy in Winnipeg in the last few weeks at the Canada Summer Games. Team Alberta captured 26 gold medals, 38 silver and 33 bronze at the events.

Grande Prairie’s Abiel Tabufor and the Team Alberta male basketball team made it to the gold medal game but ended up taking silver against Team Ontario. They ended the games with a record of 4-2.

The female wrestling team along with Sexsmith’s Kinley Link earned themselves a silver medal after being beat by Team British Columbia. Meanwhile, Fairview’s Josh Kinee and the male softball team took 8th place with a record of 3-8.

Team Alberta earned 97 medals altogether and finished fourth overall.
