County issues fire advisory

A fire advisory has been issued in the County of Grande Prairie. As of 1 p.m. Friday, the County Regional Fire service has put it in place because of dry, warm conditions.

The notice means that people with existing permits are urged not to burn while the hazard grows. There will also be no new permits issued until further notice. Any burning will not be allowed if winds are over 12 kilometres an hour.

If starting a campfire this weekend, the County reminds people to never leave it unattended. If leaving it for good, make sure it is fully extinguished. People riding off-highway vehicles are also reminded to check for hot spots on top of making sure debris is removed before and after use.
