Blue-green algae advisory for Valleyview-area Sturgeon Lake

A blue-green algae contamination in Sturgeon Lake west of Valleyview has AHS issuing a health advisory.

The toxin from the blooms can cause serious illness in people and animals, and they are warned not to drink water from it, or swim or wade in the lake.

It could cause a rash, a fever, or vomiting.

Advisories are also in place for George Lake and Moonshine Lake, for anyone living near or visiting the area.
