Wet weekend weather eases wildfire hazard

ESRD has lifted the Fire advisory for the Grande Prairie area following a weekend of widespread showers.

The wildfire hazard has been downgraded to moderate, though one blaze is still burning out of control about 87 km southwest of the city.

There are currently 100 firefighters and 28 pieces of heavy equipment fighting the Red Deer Creek fire, which is burning 36,500 hectares, mainly in BC.
