15 year old swimmer still missing in Smoky River

Spirit River RCMP are still searching for the boy pulled under the water by an undercurrent in the Smokey River. The 15 year old was supposedly swimming in the water when an undertow carried him away near the Watino Bridge on Friday, July 28th. He was seen again above water by witnesses before being pulled under again.

A British Columbia Underwater Recovery Team began assisting in the search on Monday. After searching areas the teen could be located with help of sonar devices and dives, the team has finished searching. Police say search efforts are continuing along the water with boat patrols.

Updates will be provided from RCMP as new information becomes available.
