Nitehawk gets emergency funding to cover deficit

Nitehawk Recreation Area has received emergency funding from the County of Grande Prairie and the MD of Greenview.

General Manager Duane Stevenson says the County has approved $40,000 and the MD another $80,000 to help cover a deficit from last season.

“We had a bit of a tough winter last winter with the cold weather in December and in February, and then we had some unexpected chair repairs, so we approached the three municipalities to help out with a bit of cash flow.”

They’ve also asked the City for another $40,000.

Stevenson says they have a business plan in place for the next four years that includes a reserve fund to avoid a situation like this in the future.
