RCMP shoot and kill dog after attack

One dog has been killed and another is in critical condition after reports of an attack at a park in Fort St. John. RCMP say they were called to the park Monday, hearing that a dog was attacking another and the owners and bystanders weren’t able to separate them.

Sergeant Dave Tyreman says the first officer that arrived couldn’t help, and noticed that both animals were injured.

“The officer was faced with no other alternative than to discharge their service pistol to protect the safety of the public.”

The dog that was the alleged attacker died at the park, while the other was taken to the emergency veterinary clinic. Mounties in Fort St. John were also forced to shoot and put down two dogs when they got into the home of an elderly couple and attacked them and their cat in December 2015.
