Wilfire hazard back up to moderate

After briefly dipping down to low Monday, the wildfire hazard for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has again been pushed up to moderate. There are no active wildfires in region, and anyone who see smoke in a forested area is asked to call 310-FIRE.

So far this season there have been 28 wildfires that have burned less than five hectares of land. At this point last year, 64 wildfires had burned through nearly 139 hectares.

A precautionary air quality advisory is still in effect for northern Alberta as smoke from wildfires in B.C. continues to be an issue. Anyone experiencing symptoms can call Health Link at 811 to speak to a registered nurse.
