WestJet increases winter service to Calgary

WestJet is upping its winter service from Grande Prairie to Calgary. Flights between the Swan City and Cowtown will be increased from 19 to 26 times a week.

The move comes six months after the airline dropped a flight each way between GP and Edmonton. At the time, it was blamed on less demand to energy-based markets due to the downturn in the economy.

Starting in November, four direct flights to Calgary will leave the Grande Prairie Airport a day on weekdays. Sunday will have three flights, with two on Saturdays. That increases to three as it gets closer to the Christmas holiday.
