Peace country to be represented at Canada Summer Games

A few athletes from the peace country will be representing the region in Winnipeg at the end of the month. The Canada Summer Games begin on July 28th, 2017.

There are 346 competitors in the games from Alberta with each of them coming from 74 different communities. Josh Kinnee will be swinging his bat for Fairview while Kinley Link will be showing off their wrestling moves for Sexsmith. Shooting hoops for Grande Prairie is Abiel Tabufor.

Grande Prairie is also sending two Mission Staff. Caitlin Baker and Matt Bain will representing the swan city on Team Alberta.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Ricardo Miranda congratulates all athletes, coaches and staff heading to the games. He says these young athletes help keep Alberta as a leader in sport. The youngest athlete heading to the event is a 14 year old from Calgary.
