If you have a basement suite on your property, you need to apply for a development permit before July 13th. There can only be three suites within a 50 metre radius surrounding the property in the neighbourhood. There can also only be two side by side in a neighbourhood. Any property owner can be exempt from those stipulations if they apply with the proper paper work before the date deadline.
Basement suites can only be included in a single detached home. The living area must have a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. There are also rules on the size and the parking requirements needed for each home to be given the go ahead.
