Wildfire hazard sitting at low

After a few days of rain and cooler weather, the wildfire hazard for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has dropped to low. Wildfire information officer Melinda Paplawski says the recent rain means there’s less of a risk of a wildfire spreading. Warmer weather is expected to return. Anyone who sees smoke in a forested area should call 3-10-FIRE and campers should make sure to fully extinguish their campfires.

There are no active fires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. There have been 23 wildfires so far this season that have burned a total of 4.86 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
