All of the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network programs and services will be closed for a week so they can all be moved under one roof. As of July 6th, the After-Hours Clinic, Chronic Pain Management, Primary Care Support Program, and administration will all be located at the Oak Ridge Business Centre near the entrance to Royal Oaks.
Right now, the offices are in two separate buildings in the Grande Central Station business centre on 97th Avenue in Swanavon. Communications specialist Judd Dowhy says they had to split up when the after-hours clinic and chronic pain program opened in early 2014.
“We didn’t have enough room in our existing building, so we happened to get space in a building just down the street. The plan was always to have everything in one location again, and a lease expiring was the perfect time for that to happen.”
In addition to sharing a space, Dowhy says the new location at 104-11745 105 Street has other major advantages.
“We’re really excited about it. The space is beautiful; it’s really bright and open and it’s a lot more accessible for patients. We don’t have any more stairs, we don’t have elevators; everything’s on one floor. I think people are going to be really happy when they get a chance to come and see it.”
The last day everything will be open is Wednesday, June 28th, and the move-in process is expected to take until July 5th. If the re-opening date is delayed, it will be posted on the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network Facebook page.
Arrangements have been made for regular patients, and anyone needing to access the clinic is encouraged to either use the emergency room at the QEII Hospital if it’s urgent, or to wait and meet with their family doctor if not.
