Grande Prairie hosts golf championships

The Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club is hosting the 2017 Alberta Men’s Mid-Amtateur Championships. There is 107 players that are the age of 25 or older hitting the links from June 26th to 28th.

There are two contests. The Mid Master is for those aged 40 and older while the Mid Amateur is open to all contestants. Jordan Irwin was the trophy winner last year, but he was unable to attend this year.

Winners of this championship qualify for quota positions in the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

The 2016 Mid Master champion Paul Briske is taking part in the competition as well as the second place winner for the 2016 Mid-Amateur competition Gerry Macdonald.

The top two players from the competition along with the top player from the 40 plus category form the Alberta Men’s Mid-Amateur Interprovincial team. They will compete in Regina on August 22nd to 25th.

The public is welcome to go to the course to watch.
