Fairview residents charged after drugs found in two vehicles

More than 40 grams of illegal drugs were seized from two different vehicles in the Peace River area last month.

Peace Regional RCMP first pulled over a vehicle in Fairview for a sobriety check around 11:30 p.m. on May 12th. Instead, officers found 6.9 grams of cocaine in 11 packages on the driver. Joshua Kohut of Fairview was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and has been released on a cash bail.

Police then stopped a suspicious vehicle in Grimshaw on May 31st. Inside, mounties turned up 33.95 grams of meth in 12 packages. They also found 25 milliliters of morphine, a few oxycodone pills, $1,310 and three knives.

Bryton Laboucan and Rhonda Brent of Fairview have been charged with possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking, along with possession charges for the marijuana, cocaine and oxycodone. They’ve both been released with strict conditions and have a trial set for October 24th in Peace River.
