Peace country artist passes away

The death of a Beaverlodge-born man is being called a great loss for the art community. Robert Guest passed away suddenly this week in Nanaimo, BC.

Guest taught as an art instructor at N.A.I.T., the University of Alberta, Grande Prairie Regional College, and the Fairview College over the course of ten years. The Beaverlodge Area Cultural Society says the peace country native contributed to the strength of the province’s art community.

In 1972, he was one of the founding members of the Alberta Foundation for the arts. He also helped create the Prairie Art Gallery three years later.

Guest was born in Beaverlodge in 1938. He leaves behind his wife Myrtle and daughter Moya.
