New trails coming to 108 Street, Avondale Park, CN Rail crossing

City Council is looking at awarding a $650,000 tender for new trails and pathway upgrades to Knelson Sand and Gravel.

$500,000 of that is set aside for new pedestrian trails, which will link up to current ones around the city.

One of the new trails being installed is along 108th Street from 89th Avenue to 100th.

City Manager Matt Hinton says the decision was prompted by concerns from schools and youth councils.

“Committee received their requests about a couple of locations. One was the 108th Street location and we went back to committee and said this could be a viable location, so we got some funding for it, and it’s one of the trails that’s we’re putting in this year.”

Other highlights include trails with access to the new Avondale Park and the 116th Ave CN Rail crossing.
