New DNA analysis technology has led to charges against a Whitecourt man in two separate cold cases.
Constable Natasha Lytwenko with Wood Buffalo RCMP says 51 year old Jack William Kramer was arrested in Innisfail on June 10th.
“As a result in advancements in forensic DNA analysis, Kramer was identified as the suspect in this investigation with the RCMP, as well as a historical investigation with Calgary Police Service.”
In July of 1995, a woman and her 15 year old daughter were sexually assaulted when a man entered their home and demanded money.
Constable explains Kramer’s also been linked to a case from January 2002 in Fort McMurray.
“An employee at the downtown bottle depot was approached by a masked individual brandishing a knife.  During the robbery the suspect threatened to kill the employee, a struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed which resulted in life threatening injuries. The suspect then fled the scene leaving physical evidence behind.”
Kramer is facing a variety of charges that include attempted murder, robbery, sexual assault with a weapon, and forcible confinement.
He’s due in court on Monday.
