Rental vacancy in Grande Prairie increases to 1.3 per cent

The rental vacancy rate in Grande Prairie has increased, although it still remains incredibly low.

1.3 per cent of apartment units are available, compared to 0.9 per cent last April.

Rent, however, has gone up.

The average price for a two bedroom apartment has increased by more than 10 per cent.

Renters can now expect to pay $1,173 a month, compared to $1,031 a year ago.

Across Alberta the vacancy rate has also increased from 1.5 to 1.8 per cent, which Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation attributes to new rental construction due to rising demand.
