County of Grande Prairie council has approved over 20 thousand dollars in cemetary improvement grants for this year. Landscaping, purchasing new signs, straightening headstones, building fences and installing memorial plaques are some of the projects planned for this year. St Patrick’s Cemetary in Rio Grande is set to receive six thousand dollars, while both Halcourt and Spring Creek cemetaries will get five grand. Norden Cemetary in La Glace will get three grand, while 15 hundred has been set aside for Northfield Cemetary in La Glace.
