Grande Prairie man charged with first degree murder

Four people have been charged in connection with a homicide investigation involving a burned out trailer southeast of Peace River. The remains of 20 year old Lawrence Robert Butt were found in the parked holiday trailer on Reno Road East on May 17th.

Butt was also known as Lawrence Villeneuve and had been living in Peace River. An autopsy on May 19th determined his identity and that he was murdered, but his cause of death has not been released.

30 year old Blake Murphy of Grande Prairie has been charged with first degree murder and is scheduled to appear in Peace River court today. He was also in trouble with the law in September 2016, when RCMP stopped him as he was walking near the County Industrial Park and was reportedly hiding a small amount of cocaine in his mouth.

24 year old Kyle Timothy Dudbroy-Clement, 31 year old Bonnie Lynne Casselton, and 30 year old Lucas Lloyd Lundstrom are all charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a body. The three Peace River residents are set to appear in court in that town on June 26th.
