Aquatera replacing 2,300 old water meters

Your house could be getting a new water meter this summer. Aquatera has contracted Neptune Technology Group to spend the next four months installing replacements in 2,300 homes in the City and County of Grande Prairie, as well as the Town of Sexsmith.

Account Services Manager Andrea Gallivan explains that the meters have a roughly 20 meter lifespan before there starts to be issues with accuracy.

“With new technology we’re able to ensure better leak detection and pinpoint when and how much water was lost by logging data over a 90 day period.”

Everyone affected will get a pamphlet in the mail, and Neptune is also knocking on doors. Replacement is mandatory, but customers won’t be charged for the new meter. They take 30 to 90 minutes to install.
