Two arrested for Whitecourt vandalism spree

Whitecourt RCMP have arrested two people they believe are responsible for a more than $60,000 vandalism spree in the town. Between May 11th and May 12th, several schools, other building and vehicles in the Whitecourt valley were vandalized, and a large number of golf carts were either stolen or damaged.

Police arrested a man and a boy on June 3rd, and charges are pending against them. The man’s name can’t be released at this point as his information hasn’t been sworn in court, and the youth’s name will be withheld due to his age.

The investigation into the group of vandals is ongoing, and RCMP are still looking for more suspects. Early on, officers were looking for five men and three women in their late teens or early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
