Two fights lead to assault charges against High Prairie man

A High Prairie man has been charged with aggravated assault for his involvement in two separate fights in Slave Lake. RCMP say they first heard about two people fighting outside a home in the town around 1:15 p.m. on May 30th.

A suspect was arrested inside, and police figured out that there had been another altercation at the home earlier that hadn’t been reported. They found another man and woman with serious but non-life threatening injuries who weren’t in the house when they got there.

In addition to aggravated assault, 29 year old Vernon Wayne Laboucan has also been charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He’s now in RCMP custody and will appear in Slave Lake court on June 7th.
