UPDATE: Tonight’s memorial service for the Moncton fallen soldiers has been moved to the Teresa Sargent Hall. It will still begin at 5:30.
As the three mounties who were shot and killed in Moncton are laid to rest this morning, Grande Prairie residents will be paying their respects.
An interfaith memorial service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. outside the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment on 99th Street.
The ceremony will be outdoors, and those in attendance are asked to bring lawn chairs.
27 year old Justin Bourque has been charged with three counts of first degree murder, and two counts of attempted murder after the three officers were fatally shot and another two injured last Wednesday, leading to a manhunt that lasted nearly 30 hours.
Seven thousand visitors are expected in Moncton this morning, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The funeral procession is set to begin at 11:45 Atlantic time.
