School districts fast track students into the trades

Three Schools districts in the Grande Prairie area are helping students get to a job in the trades a little bit quicker. The Fast Track to the Trades is put on jointly through the Grande Prairie Public School District, Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools, and the Peace Wapiti School Division.

With support from Merit Contractors Association and Grande Prairie Regional College, 23 grade 10 students took part this year.

The students receive training and they get to study on site with industry partners. Everyone involved was recognized on Monday, May 29th, 2017 at the GPRC.

This isn’t the first time the school districts have teamed up with industry and colleges for programming. A duel credit program was also launched in 2015.
