Local students off to Skills Canada nationals

Five local students are headed to Winnipeg for the national Skills Canada competition.

From Grande Prairie Composite High is the team of Scott Nelson and Shelby Lalonde, who earned a gold medal in video production at the provincial qualifiers in Edmonton earlier this month. Also earning gold and a spot at nationals is the robotics team of Brandon Toews and Morgan Embree from Peace Wapiti Academy.

Fellow PWA student Jason Cote is joining them, despite earning silver at provincials. The gold medal winner in outdoor power and recreation equipment gave up their spot.

The National Skills Canada Competition runs May 31st to June 2nd. More than 500 students from across the country will be competing.
