New cheer club sets base in Clairmont

A new cheer program will be run out of the Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont. Adrenaline Athletics will have their first round of try outs June 3rd and 4th at the yoga room in that building.

Owner and head coach of the all-star cheer club Jennifer Lekisch says everyone has a dream.

“For me, it was that I wanted to own my own cheer gym. Ever since I was an all star cheerleader competing in Florida. At nationals, I would watch how these gyms behave like a family and they stick together.”

She explains that the interest for cheer continues to grow in the Grande Prairie area. The club will have four competitive teams including an all-star prep squad. The programs will run for anyone aged 5 to 18 years of age.

Before the club can officially call the leisure facility a home, there is some work to be done.

“It took a while for the County Councillors to agree with some of my requests. It will only take two weeks for construction because they are only building three walls then putting up a wall of mirrors. We will be ready to rock July 2nd.”

The county will provide $36,250 for the construction of the space. Lekisch’s club has committed to putting in special flooring at a cost of $23,000.

Anyone interested in trying out for a team with the club can find more information online.
Lekisch’s gym is the second cheer club to be added to the Grande Prairie area. The Gymnik’s also have an all-star cheer squad. Their gym is run through the Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society.
