Storm sewer flushing underway

For the next three months, the city will be flushing storm sewers in the east part of Grande Prairie. Crews are starting in northwest Avondale today, and will also work their way through Mountview, Montrose, Smith and Hillside over the summer.

Drainage and Environmental Supervisor Richard Sali explains the flushing is routine, and involves using high pressure water and a vacuum truck to clean the storm sewers and remove debris. Afterwards, a remote camera is used to assess their condition.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic shouldn’t be majorly impacted, but there will be some noise that comes with the work.
