Special weather statement ends after Peace country hammered by rain

Parts of the Peace region have seen almost 45 millimetres of rain over the past day. Environment Canada says the Beaverlodge weather station has recorded 43.9 millimetres as of 11 a.m.

From 6 p.m. Tuesday night to 6 a.m. this morning, the Grande Prairie airport saw 36 millimetres. By 11 a.m., the Spirit River station had gotten 21.1 millimetres.

The special weather statement for our region has ended, but there’s still a chance of rain and a risk of a thunderstorm in the forecast for this afternoon and early this evening in Grande Prairie.
