County road ban up to 75 per cent axle weight

The County of Grande Prairie is upping the axle weight on its gravel roads. As of 10 a.m. Friday, there is a 75 per cent axle weight road ban. It is in effect around the clock until further notice.

The County has had to issue several road bans already this year, as the spring thaw came on quickly and all of the precipitation has extensively damaged roads. Many remain closed to prevent worse conditions.

A 50 per cent axle weight road ban remains in effect on all gravels roads in the City of Grande Prairie. Transportation Manager Robert Carroll plans to leave it in place for another week.
