Sports Council looking forward to second year of operation

The chair of the Grande Prairie Sports Council is very happy with how the organization has grown during it’s first year of existence. Leigh Goldie says high points from the past 12 months include the hiring of an executive director, and receiving sufficient funding from both the city and the county. He adds the organization is now working towards implementing parts of their strategic plan.
“One of course is to promote sport tourism in this area.  And part of that is helping with events and so we are going to be involved with helping with bids on big events in this region and Grande Prairie.”
One event they are actively working on is trying to bring the 2017 Alberta 55+ Winter Games to Grande Prairie.
