Rain drops Grande Prairie area wildfire hazard down to low

All of the rain the Grande Prairie region got over the weekend has reduced the risk of a wildfire sparking. The province has dropped the area’s wildfire hazard to low again.

Even with a lower chance, Wildfire information officer Melinda Paplawski reminds anyone burning or using off-highway vehicles that grass fires can still spread quickly.

This season so far has been relatively quiet, with 2.28 hectares of land burned by 10 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. They have all been extinguished.
