Northwest Alberta unemployment rate continues to drop

Alberta was one of only four provinces to see a decrease in it’s unemployment rate from April to May.

The jobless rate here moved one-tenth of a point lower to 4.6 per cent last month, making it the second lowest rate in the country behind only Saskatchewan.

3,600 fewer people in Alberta were unemployed last month, as over 16,000 more jobs were created.

The Grande Prairie-Athabasca region saw its unemployment rate decrease by two-tenths of a point to 3.7 per cent.
