Fire advisory for Grande Prairie area lifted

The fire advisory for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been lifted. Wildfire information officer Melinda Paplawski says the rain we got overnight and even more in the forecast has lowered the wildfire hazard from high to moderate.

People burning or using off highway vehicles in areas with cured grass are reminded to still use caution, as a grass fire can spread quickly under the right conditions.

Provincial crews have responded to three wildfires over the past 24 hours, but they have all been put out already. So far this season there have been 10 in the Grande Prairie area.
