Premier Notley willing to work with new B.C. government

Premier Rachel Notley says she will work with the leaders of all three major political parties in B.C. after a razor-close election. Christy Clark’s Liberal Party took 43 seats, which is two ahead of the NDP but just shy of the 44 seats needed for a majority. It’s possible that recounts and absentee ballots could further change the results.

In a statement, Notley has congratulated each leader on their campaign, saying she looks forward to working with them on “what they have all described as a desire for change and a new way of governing” the province.

As of right now, the Green Party holds the balance of power in the legislature with three seats. However, leader Andrew Weaver has said he is open to compromise.
