One dead in Cadotte Lake house fire

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit has been called in to investigate a fatal house fire in Cadotte Lake. EMS and officers from the Peace Regional detachment responded to the blaze just before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, and the remains of one person were found. Their identity still needs to be confirmed by an autopsy.

Police are in the early stages of their investigation, but Corporal Hal Turnbull says they are treating the fire as suspicious until proven otherwise. A fire investigator is also thoroughly examining the home to figure out what caused it to go up in flames.

Anyone who might have information is asked to contact Peace Regional RCMP or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
