Work on 68th Avenue twinning and berm starts up again Tuesday

Construction twinning 68th Avenue starts back up again Tuesday. Crews will be working from the new bridge to the intersection of 100th Street and 68th Ave. The road will be open to 30 kilometre an hour traffic during construction, but there will be some lane closures at times.

As part of the work, Knelson Sand and Gravel will be building a berm on the north side of 68th between Poplar Drive and Resources Road, which is expected to help reduce noise for the surrounding neighbourhoods. The dirt will be dug up from the east side of the bridge, and six trees will be removed.

The entire twinning project is expected to be done by late summer 2017. It was majorly delayed by rainy conditions last year and another $370,00 had to be added to its budget. Work on the bridge itself got back underway in late March.
