GPRC opens 25th anniversary time capsule

Grande Prairie Regional College has gotten a sneak peak at the contents of its 25th anniversary time capsule. The rocket shaped tube was buried in the walls of the college on May 18th, 1992, and was dug out for its 50th anniversary on April 22nd.

It was opened Friday morning in front of a group of staff and students, revealing several letters, copies of the student paper, student handbooks and convocation programs. A Wolves singlet was included as well, along with a VHS cassette of the 25th anniversary homecoming.

Another time capsule will be sealed this spring to be opened in 2042 during GPRC’s 75th anniversary. Grande Prairie residents can submit a written note and photo for $50 at gprc.me/50years.

The contents of the 25th anniversary time capsule will be on display at GPRC’s 50th anniversary event on May 27th. Themed “Celebrating Dreams” the evening is billed as an opportunity to reflect on the college’s history with performance
