Montrose Cultural Centre Concourse name being looked at

The elders that helped pick the proposed name for the Montrose Concourse will be consulted again for the possible addition of an english version. In collaboration with the Grande Prairie Aboriginal Circle of Services, the name Mamowepiyah ota was picked as a possible choice. In Cree it means gathering place.

Mayor Bill Given and Councillor Rory Tarant both have received feedback on the name in both opposition and in support of it.

The elders will now be consulted on a possible english place name or an english equivalent. A tentative opening ceremony for the new portion of the Montrose Cultural Centre Concourse is set for June 27th.
