Host families needed for international students

A number of international students will be making their way to Grande Prairie this fall, and the Canada Homestay Network is looking for families to take them in.

Relationship Manager for the Grande Prairie area Trina Sterr says they’re looking for host families who will really embrace having an additional member.

“The main thing is that you have room in your home and that you’re interested in really including them in part of your family. We’re not looking for people who want to board students; we want people who will take them where they go and really be involved with helping them with their school work, helping them connect with their friends outside of school.”

Families will be given financial compensation.

Six high school students from Germany, Nigeria, and Japan will be arriving in September for one or two semesters, while a group of up to 20 Columbians between eight and 16 years old will be visiting for a month this fall.

They’re all interested in improving their English language skills, and experiencing life in another culture.
Anyone interested is invited to attend an information at the Comp tonight at 7 p.m.
