A Grande Prairie family has won the $1.5 million Rotary Dream Home. Adam Hickson took the Grande Prize Wednesday night. His partner Mandy MacDonald is expecting a baby this July.
“I actually got a message from a friend before they even called me because everyone was watching it live on their phones. They phoned me and I was pretty out of it for a few minutes.”
The 50-50 raffle hit a record high for 2017 at $486,640. Sexsmith’s Matthew Watson and his wife Katy O’Brien-Watson will be getting their half of the money this week. The other half will go into community organizations.
“I didn’t think it was real at first … We are going to pay off stuff and pay off the wife’s student loan first off.”
He says their family also has plans to go on a vacation with the money.
During the month of May, winners will be announced weekdays for the Cash Cow Calendar. Those who purchased tickets will have a chance at up to 10 thousand dollars cash.
