Man uses axe to break into police vehicles

A Grande Prairie man has been arrested after trying to break into police cruisers using an axe. On Friday April 21st, an off duty officer came across the man in a back parking lot trying to get into the vehicles. The officer confronted the suspect.

The man ran to the front of the detachment and wasn’t being cooperative. The suspect then dropped the axe and ran off.

Police found and arrested him shortly after. The man is facing numerous charges including assault on an officer, uttering threats, obstruction of a police officer and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

Trevor Martineau will appear in court on April 24th, 2017.
