A 54 year old man is facing child pornography charges after an investigation started in December 2016. He is charged with possession and distribution of child porn.
The Grande Prairie General Investigation Section, Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit and National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre began looking into him when there were allegations that there was child porn being shared on social media.
Brian McCausland was released on recognizance to appear in court in Grande Prairie on May 29th, 2017. Under strict conditions, he is not allowed to contact anyone under the age of 16 and he will not have access to the internet until his court date.
RCMP say that due to these types of cases being complex, the investigation continues.
Police would like anyone that sees any behaviour that suggests someone is involved in child pornography to report it to the local detachment.
