Triple loop water slide included in Bear Creek Pool reno plans

The construction tender for the Bear Creek Outdoor Pool renovations have come in under budget. The city had budgeted for $5 million and with recommendations that Monteith Building Group Ltd. get the bid, they will charge just under $4.5 million.

The renovations will include a tot’s pool, spanish steps and lily islands. According to Manager of Recreation of Sport Kylee Haining, the 6.5 metre 3 loop waterslide is a go for the facility if the city goes with the construction company. The slide alone was to cost around $270,000. It was only going to be possible if the bid came in under the $5 million budget.

Haining says renovations will take forty weeks to complete with an opening set for summer 2018. The pool has been closed since 2013 after a large crack was noticed in the structure.
