Different structure for Subway Million Dollar Shoot Out

The annual Subway Texas Scramble Tournament and Million Dollar Shoot Out is coming up this May but this year it will be structured a little bit different. The fundraising event is put on by the United Way and the Swan City Rotary Club. United Way Executive Director Brenda Yamkowy says this year instead of being just a two day tournament, there will be qualifying rounds the three weeks leading up to the event.

“We are hoping to raise $75,000 this year. The reality of it is that we need to give back to our community partners. It is opportunity that if we raise a bit more money, we can give back more money.”

Last year, they raised around $36,000 that was split between the two organizations.

The qualifying rounds will go between May 7th and the 23rd at the Dunes, Bear Creek and Grande Prairie golf and country clubs. Yamkowy says it gives people a better chance of qualifying for the shot at a million bucks.

“Once they are in there in the final round, they have a chance to shoot once for it. If you get up on that green, you qualify on that hole.”

The semi-finals will be held at Bear Creek on the 24th and finals held there the next day.
