Man with fake explosives arrested

UPDATE: The man arrested was dressed as a character from Fallout. He was looking to get alterations done on his costume.

Grande Prairie RCMP responded to complaints of a man wearing a mask and allegedly carrying explosives at around 4:50 pm on April 12th. Police were told that the man looked to be wear an explosive device on his back when he entered a local business on 116th Avenue and 96th Street.

Once on the scene, officers got staff out of the building safely. They made contact with the man and he turned out to be wearing a costume with no threat to the public.

The man cooperated with police and was taken into custody. He was released later without criminal charges.

RCMP caution that anyone with an imitation weapon or explosive will be treated like they have a real one until proven otherwise. They would like to thank the public for recognizing that this was serious incident.
