A building near the city centre had to be evacuated early Monday morning due to a dryer fire. At around 12:45 am on April 10th, the Grande Prairie Fire Department received a call about the fire. The person living in the home was told to pull the fire alarm for the building to get everyone out.

When crews got there, the fire was being kept under control by the sprinkler system and it was quickly put out. It didn’t spread to other areas of the home.

Everyone was able to go back into their homes except two that were damaged by smoke and water. There were no injuries reported.
