RCMP are reminding drivers to keep an eye on their speedometer. Officers are cracking down on speeders in the province as April is speed awareness month.
As part of the Alberta Traffic Safety Action Plan, Police will be putting their attention on people who drive too fast. They explain that the faster you go the harder it is to stop and the harder you hit something if it is in your way.
Police say it is all about getting everyone from point A to point B safely. They add that even speeding a little bit over the limit can decrease the effectiveness of seat belts and other safety devices in the vehicle.
They hope people will travel safe and be mindful of the speed limits. They also hope that drivers use common sense.
