CFL legend set to visit Grande Prairie for football fundraiser

Former CFL great Anthony Calvillo is coming to Grande Prairie later this month. The three time Grey Cup champ and holder of several passing records will be the guest at a June 14th fundraiser for the St. Joe’s Celtics football program. Calvillo says his presentation will focus on his life story, as well as recognizing the hard work of parents and coaches.
“I do not think the kids realize that all of these coaches are volunteer coaches. They have their own time, their own families, their own work, but they still take the time to come and teach the kids in their neighbourhood. I just like to remind kids that because I did not understand that when I was younger.”
Tickets for the event, which will be held at the Alliance church, are available at the Crystal Centre box office. You can also go to the Evening with Anthony Calvillo Facebook page and bid on the chance for you and six friends to sit with Calvillo at the event.
